I cancelled my myspace account today.
It's like the online equivalent of attemping to respectfully end a phone call with a telemarketer. (In other words, the system seems designed to make you lose your patience). You have to hand it to the myspace powers that be. It's not enough to track down the Delete My Account link and then intentionally click on it. You have to sort through a precaution on simpler, "less drastic" ways to deal with myspace email spammers. And after again clicking your assertion to go through with deleting the account, you get not one but two additional screens giving you a green button to keep your account or a red button to delete the account. I half expect to get an email from Tom titled "Are You REALLY REALLY Sure?"
Somewhere in there was an option to leave a comment as to why I was leaving. I don't think my reasons would have meant much to the myspace people. It definitely wouldn't be something they could repackage, toss in front of a test audience or market group, reconfigure again and roll out as part of some sort of improvement to their service. I just...couldn't think of a good reason to keep it.
I noticed that you had disappeared from it because Tara Leigh Cobble was all of a sudden in my top friends. Odd, since I never put her there and only just met her last night. I figure even if you don't "use" it, I probably would have kept it. If for no other reason than to let people who don't have your email contact you. On the flip side though, I think that site has peaked and is on it's way out. it may take a while but I think you started what will amount to the beginning of the end.

Heh...the man that brought down myspace, huh? I don't think I'm that popular. Close, but not quite.

My space will miss your face.

Couldn't think of a reason to keep it?!?! What the crap is that all about? How about, for one, to constantly poke fun and make jokes at my brother for all the internet world to see...Come on man!

I am SO glad I am not on MySpace. The design templates are horrific, plus the pages with all the graphics and music give me seizures. Ugh.
In other news, I've just learned that you will not have to drive all the way to California for In-n-Out. There are branches in Arizona plus one big one in Las Vegas, complete with fancy sign in lights!

I forgot to add that I knew about the Las Vegas In-n-Out before and in fact have driven by it a few times (it's not directly on the strip but in fact just off of it), lest you think that I don't keep tabs on such things. I just didn't know about the AZ ones, is all. Heh.
