So I was thinking today about how there just doesn't seem to be any good rap music these days.  And being a 30 year old white guy from a small west Texas town, I should know.  So here's a look at some classic hip hop tracks from "back in the day"....that's right we're "taking it back to the old school 'cause I'm an old fool who's so cool":

YouTube Tuesdays: Donors Choose

More Than Words Challenge 2008

I was home last weekend, and one of my chores was to go through a shoe box full of old bank statements and junk mail.  As I flipped past hotel reward program mailouts and alumni newletters I came across several 8 x 11 sized mailers from Donors Choose.  Each mailer had a thank you note from a teacher whose program I had donated towards last  year.  Each teacher also included pictures of their students as they held up or used the various supplies they had received.  Oh, and then there were the hand-written thank you notes from the students.  When a second grader thanks you for making it possible for him to write Stinky, The Cat and another one signs off her letter "Your Newest Best Friend", well.....let's just say it got a little dusty there for a second and had something caught in my eye.

Last year's Challenge raised over $500, and provided 168 students with over 150 hours of instruction and homework (hopefully most of that was instruction, heh).  This year I've selected five projects.  I would greatly appreciate it if you took a second to click over to my Challenge Page at Donors Choose and look over the projects.  Even if the ones I selected don't push your particular warm and fuzzy buttons, I bet if spend just two or three minutes looking around you will find SOMETHING awesome to donate towards.

This challenge will be going on for the remainder of October.  As an extra incentive, I'll be sending out gift cards as a thank you to to the first three people who donate to one of the projects listed on my Challenge Page.  I don't care how much you donate, just drop me a line and you'll get a fun little surprise in the mail from me.

There Is Only One October

Baseball playoffs are well underway.  Seems like just a few weeks ago I was sitting in my Mishawaka hotel room and live blogging Boston's series clinching win over Colorado.

I'm predicting a Red Sox - Phillies World Series.......which means that residents of Boston and Philadelphia are wondering why in the world I would want to jinx their teams with such a prediction.

Now, if we can just get TBS to eliminate all those commercials for Frank TV....
