I'm still basking in the glow of having made a pretty darn good year end mix. And for the first time in three years, I got all the songs I wanted on one disc....so of course there were some casualties along the way. The following is a list of songs that, for reasons mostly beyond their control, were considered for but ultimately left off of this year's mix:
The Commander Thinks Aloud by The Long Winters
Five on the Five by The Raconteurs
There's A Reason by A.A. Bondy
Modern Guilt by Beck
Your Favorite Music by Clem Snide
Life in Technicolor by Coldplay
Ants Marching by Dave Matthews Band (RIP, Leroi Moore)
California Brown and Blue by Denison Witmer
Nashville by Giant Bear
Keep It Together by Guster (sorry, Jay)
Starkville by Indigo Girls
Sad Clown or Worn Out Shoes by Joe Purdy
Under the Cold Blue Stars by Josh Rouse
Don't Talk Back by Kasey Chambers
Lucky Me by Lisa LoebOh Mighty Engine by Neil Halstead
No Baby I by The Old 97s
Smile and Love, Reign O'er Me by Pearl Jam
King of the Road by Rufus Wainwright
Blue Hotel by Ryan Adams
Tiny City of Ashes by Sun Kil Moon
Never Stop by Taylor Davis
Good Intentions by Toad the Wet Sprocket
Luxury Liner by Whiskeytown
Ashes of American Flags (live) by Wilco
On the Road Again by Willie Nelson
So in theory that could've been it's own mix...song that didn't make the cut. Yes. Absolutely! PS-I LOVE "King of the Road" and "Ants Marching." Whenever AM comes on the radio I blare it. Good times.
